Edwin enjoyed a birthday at home. Augustus made breakfast pancakes, which Dad enjoyed in bed while studying scriptures ("And that would be the sweetest joy of all").
Kids helped Dad clean up the garage, which was quickly accomplished with so many helping hands. Then Dad flew kites in the meadow with them, and had a jacks tournament, which he won.
He enjoyed opening presents, and eating his mother's raisin cake, made by Virginia.
In the evening he went with Mom to a meet-the-school-board-candidates meeting. He was happy to receive phone calls from Nolan, Benjamin, and Charlie.
